Another mix of what’s been on our radar the past week.

  1. US companies continue to report that labor shortages exist within some skill sets.  Ernst & Young has 1,500 open positions across the country – a 70% increase from this time last year.  Learn more courtesy of The Wall Street Journal.
  2. What one word describes the prevailing mindset in the consulting industry?  Optimistic! Read Consulting Magazine’s 2011 outlook for the industry.
  3. Supersize! The role of the CFO is expanding – especially in small and midsized businesses.
  4. LinkedIn has launched a new feature,  LinkedIn Skills, that allows members to highlight their skills, build connections around common expertise, and identify trending talents.
  5. Tim Sloan replaces Howard Atkins as CFO at Wells Fargo.
  6. 3 great ways to use LinkedIn for project collaboration. We recently completed a sales analytics project for a global manufacturing client in Charlotte and used Huddle to successfully collaborate!
  7. Strong demand continues in the Charlotte region for talented Project Management professionals.  Learn what clients expect in the role.
  8. According to the BLS, U.S. job openings fell by 4.3% in December 2010 from November 2010, but were still up 21% from December 2009.
