opportunity-signYes, it has been a wild ride in the economy the past few months.  But as with most things in life, with adversity comes opportunity.

The DARTON team networks for a living.  We spend time each day speaking with CFOs, Chief Accounting Officers, Controllers, VPs of Finance and others who hold key accounting and finance posts with companies in the greater Charlotte metro area.

And just what does the DARTON team learn from our networking?

There is plenty of opportunity in Charlotte for highly experienced finance and accounting professionals to put their skills to work in Charlotte.

Proactive finance and accounting executives in Charlotte are facing adversity right between the eyes and are taking decisive actions to chart their companies through the choppy economic waters.  These leaders are taking initiatives to improve access to credit.  They are taking a hard look at the compliance functions within their firms (especially given the increased government scrutiny that is following the meltdown in the financial services industry).  They are enhancing the risk functions within their organizations.

And they are turning to experienced project professionals in finance and accounting to assist – especially those with broad-based skills.

Marshall Krantz of CFO.com published an article on 10.31.08 that featured CFO career strategy tips as provided by experienced recruiters from a cross-section of USA firms.  Based on the DARTON team’s experience in greater Charlotte, we fully agree with the following quote from the article:

“Over and above any specific skill, the trend toward employers demanding that senior finance people possess broad-based skills will likely intensify as board members and CEOs now more than ever before demand that their CFOs perform as business strategists and leaders”.
