A picture tells a thousand words.  Or in this case, a picture tells a great REBOUND story for contract jobs.

Yesterday The Charlotte Observer ran a front page story (courtesy of The New York Times) entitled “Surge in hiring for temporary workers”.  The bottom line…USA businesses are hiring more and more contract employees – a trend regarded as a leading indicator for perm hiring.  Read the story at  http://www.charlotteobserver.com/business/story/1136639.html.

On a related note, the American Staffing Association http://www.americanstaffing.net/, the voice of the U.S. staffing industry since 1966, has published the following chart that supports yesterday’s story in the Observer.  The bottom line (blue) represents year-to-date staffing demand in 2009.  Click here for more info:  http://www.americanstaffing.net/statistics/graph_52_weeks.cfm
