Eric Krell, a regular contributor to Business Finance magazine(http://businessfinancemag.com/), has published this week his perspectives on the buzz surrounding XBRL.

Eric has been researching the practical implications of the SEC’s proposed XBRL rules, in which publicly listed companies would need to “tag” data in their financial statements by 2009 – 2011 (depending on the size of the company).

Although he intends to write about the topic in the September 2008 issue of Business Finance magazine, this week Eric published some initial thoughts about how much heavy lifting is required by XBRL and what it means.

The bottom line?  Eric is a firm believer that XBRL is no Sarbanes-Oxley.
